Limbo boats come from Krik Marine in Vestervig, a harbour village in the Thy region on Denmark's northwest coast. They are designed and built in Denmark in glass fibre reinforced polyester and serve families, anglers, rental fleets, dive clubs, work crews and the lifesaving service. The names are easy to decode: two digit numbers from the Limbo 8 to the Limbo 20 roughly give the length in feet, three digit numbers such as 435 or 585 give it in centimetres.

Our model records list 27 Limbo models, all motor boats. Recorded build years run from 1990 to 2027, and 21 of the 27 continue into current production. Lengths range from 2.5 to 7.3 metres, with half of the models between 4.1 and 5.7 metres. The core is the 14 family (14, 14 GT, 14 GTS, 14 LUX and 14 Speed) at 4.1 to 4.2 metres; the Limbo 14 is also the oldest model on record, from 1990. Above that come the Limbo 17 to 20 between 4.8 and 6 metres and the centimetre series up to the Limbo 725 at 7.2 metres.

Most Limbos are trailer boats with an outboard. They are launched from slipways, towed home and stored ashore over winter, so the hull bottom, the transom and the trailer all matter. On an older boat the outboard is often the most valuable single item, and its power, hours and service history weigh heavily. A Limbo 14 from the 1990s and a new Limbo 725 are very different propositions, and build year, size and engine explain most of that gap.
