Lex boats are the work of Nina and Christian Lex, whose yard stands at Maria Wörth on the shore of the Wörthersee in Carinthia. They build dayboats with classic lines that were drawn for electric drive from the outset rather than converted later. The design came from the Hamburg studio iYacht under Udo A. Hafner, and in 2016 the yard received a special prize at the German Design Award. In a magazine test the eLex 610 ran on a 50 kW Torqeedo Deep Blue fed by two high-voltage battery packs. Since 2016 the smaller boat can also be ordered with an Evinrude petrol outboard of up to 60 hp, and since 2019 with jet drive. Each boat is semi-custom, so owners help shape the look. On a boat with a petrol outboard instead, the usual engine service applies. Semi-custom boats differ from one another, so compare upholstery, deck finish and equipment item by item rather than by model name. Lake boats often spend long seasons at a buoy, so look at the canvas and the cockpit drains.
