Magazzù comes from Palermo in Sicily. Its roots lie in the engineering work of Alfredo Magazzù in the 1960s, which led to patents and experimental projects in shipbuilding and aviation, including work with Aeritalia and Dornier. The company took shape as a boat production business in the late nineties and turned to cabin maxi RIBs in the early 2000s, beginning with the Striker 9.90 of 2003. Today the yard builds carbon and epoxy hulls with a stepped bottom and closed-cell tubes in a D profile. The boats are known for restrained colours and clean lines, which is how chief executive Renato Magazzù describes the house style.

That puts the brand at the very top end of what most people picture as an inflatable.
Closed-cell tubes do not lose air, but their outer skin still ages in strong sun, so look for cracks, chafe along the rubbing strake and loose seams. On a stepped hull, check the steps and the bottom for repairs, since these boats are often run fast in a seaway. Engine hours and service records matter more than the hull's age, especially on twin installations. Most Magazzù boats spend their lives in the Mediterranean as day cruisers, tenders or for island hopping, which means plenty of salt and UV. Teak decks need regular cleaning and, eventually, recaulking.
