Mancini started in 1958 near Venice, not as a boatyard but as a metalworking shop for civil structures. Being so close to the sea drew the Mancini family into boatbuilding. Today the yard builds motorboats and ocean-going sailing yachts in steel and aluminium, along with craft of up to 15 metres for patrol, rescue and research work. Its signature is the Multiprofessional range: boats shaped like a rigid inflatable, but with hull and tubes made entirely of aluminium, a construction the yard has patented. The Hydra boats are flat-bottomed aluminium craft for flood-prone areas and inland waters.
Our model records hold 24 designs: nine RIBs, eight motorboats and seven sailing yachts, with build years from 1995. Thirteen lines reach into the most recent build years, among them all nine RIBs, the three Hydra models and the Eco 7. The RIBs include the GP 3.5, 4.7 and 5.5, the Multiprofessional from 650 to 1200 and the Mancini 12 Pilot. The sailing yachts carry their rig in the name: the Mancini 40 as Cutter, Sloop and Yawl, the 46 as Sloop and Ketch, and the 53 Ketch, at 16 metres the longest boat on the list. The smallest is the GP 3.5 at 3.5 metres. The oldest entry is the Mancini 40 cl Cutter from 1995, while most of the other yachts are listed for 2007 to 2021.
Aluminium brings its own maintenance logic. It does not rot or suffer osmosis, but it reacts badly to contact with other metals in salt water, so anodes need regular replacement and stray currents at the berth deserve attention. Copper-based antifouling must never be used on an aluminium hull. On a used Multiprofessional, look at the welds along the tubes and at the fittings for signs of corrosion. A steel or aluminium sailing yacht needs a check of the paint system and of the areas under the floorboards where water collects. Small RIBs mostly travel on trailers, so axle, bearings and lights are part of every inspection.
