Worth knowing
Mascot; cover, cost and conditions
Two Mascot boats, a 33 and a 28, are already sailing in our own portfolio. Taking out the policy needs no more catalogue knowledge than that: what is insured is your specific boat with its type of boat, value, year of construction, engine power or sail area and cruising range. These details determine the premium, and the brand name itself plays no part.
The value of a boat comprises more than the hull: electronics and equipment should be included in the list attached to the contract. Full hull cover pays out at the agreed value with no deduction for depreciation, and whatever is listed when the policy is taken out is also taken into account in the event of a claim. A complete list pays off directly here.
Theft of parts is covered too: full hull cover includes it, outboard included, while limited hull cover protects against fire, storm, lightning strike, theft of the whole boat and damage in winter storage. We insure a Mascot regardless of the year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners, and when you switch we cancel the previous contract free of charge.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does retrofitted electronics on my Mascot 33 count towards the sum insured?
Yes, for Mascot too: if you state it in the list when taking out the policy.
It then enters the agreed value and is indemnified in the event of a claim with no deduction for
depreciation.
My Mascot 28 has had several previous owners. Does that make taking out a policy more difficult?
No, not for Mascot either: We insure regardless of the year of construction,
place of purchase and previous owners.
A 28 and a 33 of this brand are already sailing in our own portfolio,
so acceptance is straightforward.
