Worth knowing
Lema; cover, cost and conditions
Small production runs have a hard time with some insurers because comparable values are missing. Not with us: we insure small production runs and even home-built boats, and the premium is based on the type of boat, value, year of build, engine output and cruising range, never on how well known the brand is. That applies to boats from Lema as well.
Lema GEN and Lema Gold are already sailing in our own portfolio. When the contract is taken out we agree the value of the boat as an agreed value; in the event of a claim we indemnify with no deduction for depreciation (new for old). Particularly on boats without a broad second-hand market, the agreed value saves any later discussion about the depreciated value.
Cover does not end at the waterline: it applies in winter storage, during craning and launching and while the boat is in transit; a boat trailer is covered by the third-party liability at no extra premium from Basis-Plus, provided it is named in the application with its value. You can add it to the hull cover for a premium. Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros you take out the contract online, above that we examine each case individually.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
My Lema was built only in small numbers. Does that make valuation more difficult?
No, not for Lema either: When the contract is taken out we agree the value as an agreed value,
which is binding in the event of a claim.
Small production runs are expressly insurable with us.
I converted my Lema Gold myself. Does cover remain in place?
Yes, for Lema too: home-built and converted boats are insurable too.
State the current value and the engine output so that the agreed value and the premium match the
boat as it is.
