Worth knowing
Marco; cover, cost and conditions
Small production runs are expressly insurable at NAMMERT, as are self-built boats. Marco's programme remained manageable with seven model ranges: motorboats such as the Bambi FB 15 and the California EFB 19 were built from 1970 to 1977, the motor yachts Marco Polo 9 and 12 from 2003 to 2012. For the contract the small number of units is no disadvantage.
Two boats of the brand, a 560 and an 810, are already sailing in our own portfolio. The premium is based on type of boat, value, year of construction, engine power and cruising range, never on the brand name; a rarely built model is therefore rated on regular terms as well.
Decades lie between the two production phases, and the condition and value of the boats differ accordingly. Full hull cover therefore works with an agreed value: the agreed sum is binding, compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation, in the Premium tariff without an age limit.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
My Marco does not appear in any current model list. How is it rated?
For Marco: By type of boat, value, year of construction, engine setup and cruising range;
the brand itself plays no part.
Small production runs are insurable too, and a 560 and an 810 are already sailing in our portfolio.
I have extensively rebuilt my Marco boat myself. Is that a problem?
No, not for Marco either: self-built and converted boats are insurable as well.
What matters is that the sum insured reflects the actual condition,
because it is agreed as an agreed value.

how a claim is settled and the waters you sail.

For the Marco Polo 9 Classic, Marco Polo 9 Open and Marco Polo 12 by Marco series the market value
and the replacement cost often differ widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the Bambi FB 15, California EFB 19,
Costa d'Argento 21 by Marco and 1 more series there is no list price left.
That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it,
and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
For the Marco Polo 9 Classic, Marco Polo 9 Open, Marco Polo 12 by Marco and further series:
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.
Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
For the Bambi FB 15, California EFB 19, Costa d'Argento 21 by Marco series:
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part.
Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
