Myra; cover, cost and conditions
In our records Myra is a builder of cabin and sports boats. We have no reliable source on its base or history, so this page follows the model data. The boats span a little over two decades and fall into two generations. The older ones carry two digit numbers close to the length in feet: Myra 21, Myra 23 and Myra 25. The later 750 CC and 850 give the length in centimetres. The Nordfjord 22 has a name of its own but follows the feet logic, at 6.6 metres.
Our model records list six Myra designs: four motorboats and two motor yachts. The Myra 23 is the earliest, from 1967, followed by the Myra 21 from 1968 and the Nordfjord 22 from 1970. The Myra 25 runs from 1977 to 1983. The second generation, the 750 CC and the 850, is recorded from 1984 to 1991. Lengths run from the 6.3 metre Myra 21 to the 8.5 metre Myra 850. The 7.62 metre Myra 25 and the 850 are classed as motor yachts, and all six boats fall between six and nine metres.
Even the youngest of these boats is more than thirty years old, so condition outweighs the original brochure. Engine hours, the state of the shaft or sterndrive and any soft areas in the deck are worth checking first. The smaller boats around six to seven metres can travel on a suitable trailer, while the 850 is more at home on a fixed berth. Winter ashore under a tarpaulin keeps rain out of the cabin and the woodwork dry.
