In Hawaii Naish builds SUP boards, kites, windsurfing equipment and foils, one of the defining brands in water sports, founded by Robby Naish. The range extends from recreational SUPs to race boards and foil sets, and for the insurance the question is which parts of the set carry which value.
With a foil set the value lies not in the board but in the mast, fuselage and wings. Anyone who owns several sets of wings, which is common among foilers, has equipment worth as much as a small car that is not attached to the board but sits in a bag. List these sets as a separate accessories item in the application; only declared values are replaced, and theft from a vehicle is a real occurrence with foil sets.
With kites there is the additional question of safety. A kite at full power pulls an adult across land, and injuries occur more often when launching and landing on the beach than on the water. Personal accident cover is the important building block here. We do not offer boat third-party liability for muscle-powered and wind-powered craft; check your private liability insurance for the inclusion of kite sports, because damage to third parties on the beach is not a theoretical case.
