Nautic Global Group; cover, cost and conditions
Two American pontoon brands run under this name: Sweetwater and Sanpan. A pontoon boat is a multihull in which two or three welded aluminium tubes carry a flat deck holding seating, the helm and often a bar. You recognise the type by the straight deck edge, the rail running all the way round and the very large usable area for its length. In Europe these boats are mostly seen on lakes, rivers and sheltered water, where their light displacement and shallow draught count.
Our model records list 41 models of these brands, all of them motorboats. Recorded build years run from 2007 to 2017. Forty one series are recorded: the Sanpan 2200 DC, 2500 DC, 2500-4 and 2500 FE I/O Elite TT, and the Sweetwater 1570 and 1570 F, 1770 and 1770 F, 1780 and 1780 F, 1986, 2180 FCXL and the 2186 in the BF, DF and F versions, alongside the Premium models of the SW range. The four figure number gives the length in feet and inches. Half the models lie between 6.5 and 7.9 metres, and boats at the top of the range measure a good eight metres.
The aluminium tubes are the load bearing part and the part that takes the first knock when berthing, locking through or touching ground. Dents and opened seams are the wear pattern of this construction rather than cracks. The deck carries a great deal of fitted equipment that is worth listing when a value is put on the boat, since on a pontoon the furniture really is part of the boat.
