Omikron Yachts is a Greek yard on the Aegean that draws on the facilities and know-how of Olympic Marine, a marina some 60 kilometres south of Athens with roots going back to 1969. The brand was set up by the Greek shipowner George Prokopiou, who had bought Olympic Marine. Its first design, the OT-60, is a long-range cruiser with a hull by the Argentine designer Juan Kouyoumdjian and exterior and interior styling by the Italian Lorenzo Argento. What sets her apart at a glance is the beam: roughly six metres on a length of just over 18 metres. The hull is a foam-cored sandwich, the superstructure carbon fibre, and further projects such as the OT-80 are under way.

Build years start in 2023 and the line runs into the most recent build years, so every OT-60 afloat is a young boat from current production. A magazine test measured about 1.25 litres per nautical mile at eight knots, which gives a range of around 900 miles, and the test boat ran just under 14 knots flat out. Power comes from two Yanmar diesels of either 110 or 184 kW. The owner's cabin sits forward, with two double cabins and their own heads amidships.
A carbon superstructure and a cored hull reward careful inspection, and any damage to the laminate belongs in the hands of a yard that knows sandwich construction. On a boat this new, the questions for a second owner are mostly about how she has been used. Long passages at eight knots leave different traces than short hops at full speed, so engine hours, service records for both diesels and the state of the navigation electronics tell the real story. It is worth asking for the build documentation and any yard warranty papers that can pass to a new owner.
