Paragon Yachts OY; cover, cost and conditions

Paragon Yachts is a Finnish yard for rugged cabin boats and motor yachts. A 2009 report placed it within the Nimbus Group at the time. The boats are meant for use all year in rough water, and the yard says the concept was worked out together with sea rescue crews, the coast guard, racers and professionals at sea. The Paragon 25 came first, the Paragon 31 followed as the second model of that generation. Look for a deep V hull, 24.5 degrees of deadrise on the 31, and a tall, angular profile.

Our records hold six Paragon models: two motorboats and four motor yachts. The motorboats are the 8.36 metre Paragon 25 Cabin, listed from 2005, and the 8.52 metre Paragon 25 Open from 2010. Among the yachts are the 9.5 metre Paragon 29 and the 10.4 metre Paragon 33, both from 2005 to 2012, the 9.88 metre Paragon 31 Flybridge from 2008 and the 10.59 metre Paragon 31 Cabin from 2012. Both versions of the 25 and both of the 31 run into the latest build years. Lengths span 8.36 to 10.59 metres in Cabin, Open and Flybridge form.

A Paragon tends to be used early and late in the season, often in weather that sends lighter boats home. That makes the heating, the wipers and the bilge pumps worth checking as carefully as the engines. The 25 can be trailed between lakes and coast, while the larger yachts are usually kept on a berth and lifted for a dry winter.
