Portofino Marine; cover, cost and conditions
Portofino Marine is an Italian company founded in 1994 by Massimo Brinzo. Despite the name, its boats are not built on the coast but in Salvirola, in the province of Cremona in Lombardy. Brinzo set out to create a medium sized boat that crosses a sportfisherman with the classic Ligurian gozzo. That idea still defines the look: a planing vee hull, deep side decks that run all the way round so you can walk and fish from them, and plenty of wood inside and out. Models come in several versions, Cabin, Coupe, Fisherman, Fly, Spider and Walk Around, so one hull can turn into quite different boats.
Our model records list ten designs, nine motor yachts and one motorboat. Build years run from 1995 to 2024, and none of the lines is recorded in the most recent build years. The core is the Portofino 750 in five versions: the Cabin from 1995 at 7.5 metres, the Fly at 9.3 metres, and the Spider, WA Duetto and WA Sportfish at nine metres each. The Portofino 10 comes as Fly, HT and Spider, all at 10.4 metres, while the Portofino 37 measures twelve metres. The largest model is the Portofino 47 Fly at 14.5 metres, recorded from 1999 to 2024 and so the longest running line of the brand.
Walkaround decks and a fishing cockpit mean these boats tend to be used hard, often with rods, livewells and electronics added over the years. On a used Portofino it is worth checking the wooden trim and teak for lifting or water ingress, the condition of the fuel tanks and the hours on the engines. The flybridge versions add weight up high, so the helm station and its wiring deserve a look too. Many owners use them both for a day of trolling and for coastal cruising with an overnight stop, which makes the state of the galley and heads as relevant as the fishing gear.
