Posillipo; cover, cost and conditions

Posillipo takes its name from the Naples district where the original boatyard stood beside the sea caves. In 1960 the yard moved to a larger plant at Sabaudia in the province of Latina and built there until 2012. Gianfranco Rizzardi took over the brand early in 1993, and the later yachts sold as Rizzardi Posillipo appear on our Rizzardi page. The heart of the range is the Technema line drawn by the Zuccon studio, where the number gives roughly the length in feet.

Our records list 17 Posillipo motor yachts: 16 Technemas and the Posillipo 47, the oldest, built from 1968 to 1977. The Technema 38 and 65 start in 1979 and the rest from 1992 onward; four lines, the 80, 85, 95 and 120, run until 2015. Lengths go from 11.68 metres (Technema 38) to 37.2 metres (Technema 120): six models stay under 20 metres, eight sit between 20.54 and 28.18 metres and three go further.

Yachts of this size are marina residents, and many spend the season stern-to in a Mediterranean berth. Engines, generators and onboard systems want regular servicing by people who know the installation, and a hull of 25 metres or more needs a yard with a large travel lift or a slipway for its haul-out. Older Technemas have often been refitted, so the paperwork from each yard period is worth keeping aboard.
