President Marine; cover, cost and conditions

President Marine builds motor yachts in southern Taiwan. The yard lies at the Jiangjun boat harbour in Tainan and has been working since the late 1960s, founded by Eddie Yeh in 1968. Building is in fibreglass, from aft cabin boats through trawlers and pilothouse yachts to triple deck motor yachts. The yard carries classification and inspection marks from international societies and was the first in Taiwan to have its quality system certified to ISO 9001. You recognise the yachts by the very tall superstructure running the full length, the broad window bands and the walkaround side deck.

Our model records list 81 President Marine models, all of them recorded as motor yachts. Build years start in 1978 and run into current production. Sixty series are recorded: the Classic 42 and 47, the Pilothouse range from 620 to 680, the Sport Fisher 530 and 610, the Convertible 490 and the Triple Deck yachts 107, 115 and 130. Lengths run from 11.7 to 42.5 metres, with half the models between 16.7 and 26.5 metres.

This is a brand without small boats: the shortest recorded model is almost twelve metres. At that size the hull is only part of what is on board, since machinery, generators, air conditioning, tenders and navigation systems all carry value of their own and none of it shows in a length figure. Yachts of this type also cross oceans under their own power, which is a different working life from a boat that stays in one bay.
