Sagemar S.r.l.; cover, cost and conditions
Sagemar is a small Italian yard in Montescudaio, a few kilometres from Marina di Cecina in Tuscany. According to a test report in the Italian magazine Barche a Motore, it builds both leisure and commercial craft, works in a partly artisanal way and fits out every boat in its own sheds. Hulls are laid up in glass fibre with isophthalic polyester resin, decks as a sandwich laminate, and the lines came from the owner of the yard, who also oversees each stage of the build. The yachts are sold as the Sagene range, with a suffix telling you the superstructure: F for flybridge, HT for hardtop, OP for open.
Our model records hold six Sagene motor yachts. The 120 HT starts the list in 2002, the other five follow from 2003, and every line ends in 2012. Three carry the F suffix (130, 140 and 145), two are hardtops (120 and 140) and one is the 130 OP. Lengths run from 11.9 metres for the 120 HT to 15.5 metres for the 145 F; the 130 versions measure 13.1 metres and the 140 versions 13.8 metres, so two hull sizes were offered in two styles each.
A Sagene today is a used yacht of at least fourteen years, usually kept on a marina berth and taken along the coast for weekends and summer cruises. The flybridge versions catch more wind alongside and need good fenders and lines, while the hardtop shelters the helm in spring and autumn. With a partly hand-built boat, service records and the original equipment list are worth keeping together, and a winter ashore with the engines serviced pays off every season.
