Saphire grew out of an idea by Michael Tobler, the Swiss sailor who founded the brand. He wanted a boat that is simple to handle, quick, trailerable and able to be launched or dried out without outside help. The Saphire 27 was drawn by designer Claudio Maletto and is laminated at Delphia Yachts in Poland, while Tobler looks after sales from Switzerland. It sets out to be cruiser, racer and one-design at once, aimed at lakes and coastal waters. You know it by the lifting keel, the carbon rig and a hull 2.50 metres wide that weighs around 1.15 tonnes.
