Scan Yacht AB is a Swedish builder of cruising sailboats sold under the Scanner name. The Scanner 391 was designed by Nils-Eric Olofsson, built in fibreglass and rigged as a fractional sloop with a 7/8 rig, a setup that a small crew can handle comfortably. The whole range sits in one size band between 11 and just under 12 metres, and the first two digits of each name are close to the length in feet. Two models carry the DS suffix. They should not be confused with the Scanner RIBs, which have their own brand page.

Our model records list seven Scan Yacht sailing yachts: the Scanner 38, 39 Targa, 361, 391, 392 and 399 DS and the Scanyacht 390 DS. Build years run from 1983 to 2013. The Scanyacht 390 DS opens the list, recorded from 1983 to 1989, followed by the Scanner 38 from 1985 and the 39 Targa from 1987. The 391 and 399 DS appear from 1996, the 361 from 2003 and the 392 from 2006 to 2013. Lengths are tightly grouped, from 11 metres for the 361 to 11.92 metres for the 391 and 399 DS; three models measure 11.72 metres and the 390 DS 11.91 metres.

Scanners are cruising yachts for coastal passages and longer summer trips, kept in a marina berth and craned out for winter. On the older hulls, standing rigging, chainplates and the engine are worth a careful look, while the later boats often still carry their original joinery in good shape. The fractional rig keeps sail handling simple for a couple sailing on their own.
