Scandinavia Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
Despite its name, Scandinavia Yachts is a Polish yard. Michał Kiersnowski founded it in 2006 in Skarżysko-Kamienna, and Scandinavia is a brand name rather than a statement of origin. The yard builds compact sailing yachts plus two motor yachts. The Scandinavia 35 comes from the studio of Marc-Oliver von Ahlen, the other models from various designers. Two naming systems are in use: the sailing yachts 27, 30 and 35 carry numbers close to their length in feet, while 650, 950 and 1050 give roughly the length in centimetres. The 650 comes in two versions, Cruiser and Race.
Our model records list seven models: four sailing yachts, one sailing boat and two motor yachts. The Scandinavia 27 opens the list in 2007, followed by the Scandinavia 30 and the 950 motor yacht in 2009, the 650 Cruiser and 650 Race in 2012, and the Scandinavia 35 and 1050 motor yacht in 2013. All seven lines run into the latest build years. Lengths range from 6.5 metres for the two 650 versions to 10.64 metres for the Scandinavia 35, with the 1050 close behind at 10.62 metres.
The 6.5 metre 650 versions are light enough for a trailer and suit lakes and regattas close to home. The 27 and 30 are marina boats that come out by crane in autumn, while the 950 and 1050 motor yachts favour longer trips with nights aboard. Young boats like these mainly need routine care: fresh antifouling, an engine service and a check of rigging or steering gear every spring.
