Scheepsreparatie Friesland, known as SRF, is based in Harlingen on the Frisian coast of the Netherlands. Lex Tichellaar started the business in 1975 to refit and renovate old vessels. Six partners now run the yard, which handles new builds as well as refits and repairs. Harlingen is where the Colin Archer 50 comes from, a semi-custom new build drawn by naval architect Olivier van der Meer. The name recalls the Norwegian boatbuilder Colin Archer, whose sturdy double-enders made their name as rescue and pilot boats. The SRF yacht is recognisable by its steel hull, long keel and hydraulic steering.
