SeaVee Boats; cover, cost and conditions
SeaVee Boats builds centre console fishing boats in Miami, Florida, for offshore sport fishing. The yard was started by Don McGee and is now owned by Ariel Pared, Ralph Torres and Moises Rodriguez. Boats are built semi custom, with each owner choosing the layout and fit-out for the way he fishes. The trade press describes hand laid hulls on a multi stringer backbone and a hull to deck joint that is bonded and through bolted. The model number is roughly the length in feet times ten: the 270 Z is just over 8.2 metres, the 450 Z almost 13.7 metres. Suffixes such as Z, O/O, I/O or FA mark versions of the same size.
Our model records list 20 SeaVee boats, 15 motorboats and 5 motor yachts, spread across nine sizes from 270 to 450. The 340 comes in five versions, the 390 in four and the 430 in four, while the 320 appears as a base model and as the 320 Z. Seven models carry the Z. Build years start in 2007, and ten lines run into the most recent years, among them the 290, the 370 Z and the 450 Z. Four boats stay under 10 metres, eleven sit between 10.03 and 11.89 metres, and five go beyond: the four 430 versions at 13.11 metres and the 450 Z.
A SeaVee is built to run hard to distant fishing grounds, so hull, engines and electronics see heavy use. Many boats live in dry stack storage and go into the water by forklift, others sit on a lift at a private dock. Salt water calls for a fresh water rinse of the engines and deck hardware after every trip, and the fishing gear needs the same care as the boat.

As the SeaVee 270 Z, SeaVee 290,
SeaVee 320 by SeaVee Boats and 7 more series are still in production,
parts are available and repair costs are predictable.
Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
For the SeaVee 430 FA O, SeaVee 430 SE O,
SeaVee 320 Z by SeaVee Boats and 7 more series the market value and the replacement cost often
differ widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the SeaVee 270 Z, SeaVee 290, SeaVee 320 by SeaVee Boats and further series:
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part.
Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For the SeaVee 450 Z, SeaVee 430 FA O, SeaVee 430 SE O by SeaVee Boats and further series:
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.
Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
