Sedna Yachts is a Polish yard building compact sailing yachts in glassfibre, with hull, deck and superstructure all moulded in GRP. Its Sedna 26 has a hard-chined hull and a centreplate that lifts right up, so the draught runs from a little over 0.4 metres to about 1.7 metres. Practical Boat Owner, reviewing the boat in 2018, called it a true trailer sailer and remarked on the remarkable volume below. The Sedna 30 was drawn by the designer Leszek Gonciarz and carries a fractional sloop rig. The chines along the topsides and the generous space inside are what give a Sedna away.
Our model records hold three designs, each listed as a sailing yacht. The Sedna 24 measures 7.3 metres, the Sedna 26 7.9 metres and the Sedna 30 8.97 metres. The 26 and the 30 appear from 2008, the 24 joined in 2011, and all three lines continue into the most recent build years. A lifting centreplate asks for attention that a fixed keel does not. The pennant or lifting tackle wears, and the plate itself should be checked for knocks and corrosion whenever the boat comes out of the water. Owners who trail between lakes and coast should look over the trailer bearings, rollers and lights as carefully as the hull. When viewing a used boat, it pays to inspect the centreplate case for cracks or weeping, to check the outboard bracket and to ask how often the mast has been raised and lowered, since the fittings at the step take the strain. In return, the shallow draught opens up creeks and bays where deeper boats cannot anchor.
