Worth knowing
Starlight; cover, cost and conditions
The sailing yacht Starlight 39 forms the only recorded entry, built between 1990 and 1998. No further ranges are documented. Anyone buying such a yacht today therefore inevitably comes from the second-hand market, which is no obstacle for NAMMERT.
If a defect the seller did not mention appears after the purchase, the pleasure quickly turns into a dispute. Legal expenses cover for water sports is offered alongside and is intended for a dispute after buying a used boat or with a yard.
For the vessel itself, full hull cover applies with an agreed value, with no deduction for depreciation (new for old) and in the Premium tariff with no age limit. Third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros remains the basis, supplemented by club races from the Basis-Plus tariff onwards.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
What does the legal expenses cover provide after a purchase?
It is intended for disputes concerning the boat, for example after buying a used boat or in a dispute with a yard, and is offered by NAMMERT alongside third-party liability and hull insurance.
Does a change of owner alter the cover?
NAMMERT provides insurance regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners. For the premium, type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range of the vessel count.

Series by Starlight, build years and cover
Starlight 39 is a sailing yacht from Starlight, built from 1990 to 1998.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
