Worth knowing
TES Yacht; cover, cost and conditions
The basis of every contract is third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros, selectable in the levels Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium. That applies to the sailing yachts from TES Yacht, whose documented construction periods begin in 1995 with the 678 BT Standard, just as it does to the motor yacht TES 393 Illuminatus; only on that do limited hull cover and full hull cover build.
Many model ranges run to this day, for example the TES 32 Dreamer, built since 2000, the TES 550 Master, built since 1998, or the TES 28 Magnam. Whether you insure a new yacht or a used boat makes no difference: online it works up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros, above that we review the individual case.
A 678 BT is already sailing in our own portfolio. With the sailing boats the sail area enters into the premium, with the motor yacht the engine power, plus value, year of construction and cruising range; the brand itself plays no part. Every TES is therefore rated individually.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
The TES 678 BT was built over many years. Does the specific year of construction matter?
For TES Yacht: The year of construction is a premium factor,
but not an obstacle: cover is provided regardless of age,
and in the Premium tariff full hull cover applies with no age limit.
What limit of indemnity does third-party liability have for a TES 32 Dreamer?
For TES Yacht: Depending on the tariff level, 10 to 50 million euros.
Third-party liability is the basis of the contract; Basis,
Basis-Plus and Premium differ in the scope of benefits.

As the TES 28 Magnam, TES 32 Dreamer,
TES 246 Versus by TES Yacht and 3 more series are still in production,
parts are available and repair costs are predictable.
Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
For the TES 720, TES 20 Mico, TES 678 BT Standard by TES Yacht and 2 more series the market value
and the replacement cost often differ widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the TES 28 Magnam, TES 32 Dreamer, TES 246 Versus by TES Yacht and further series:
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts:
a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat,
and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
For the TES 32 Dreamer, TES 393 Illuminatus by TES Yacht series:
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.
Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
For the TES 678 Bt-Tes 720, TES 20 Mico, TES P 690 Focus by TES Yacht and further series:
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides.
A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
