Small boats run under this name, at their core the French Fun Yak range. Their hulls are made by rotational moulding in polyethylene: plastic granulate is melted in a turning heated mould and settles against the wall as a closed layer. The result is a hull with no seam and no paint film, which shrugs off knocks, needs no coating and is still whole after years on a slipway. You recognise the boats by the soft rounded edges without sharp transitions, the colour running right through the material and a weight high for their size.

Polyethylene behaves unlike anything else a boat is usually made of. It cannot be laminated, so a repair means welding the plastic rather than patching it, and it cannot be painted in the usual way because nothing sticks to it. In exchange it does not crack, does not osmose and does not care what it is dragged across, which is why the type belongs to slipways and club fleets.
