In the eighties and nineties Sunbird was one of the large entry level boatyards in the USA. The boats are light, inexpensive to run and are almost always used with an outboard. That is precisely why the engine details are the most important point in the contract: without a serial number the hull insurance only covers the hull in the event of theft.

The second point is the trailer. Sunbird boats mostly stand ashore and are towed to the water. Road transport, launching and craning are included with us, and the trailer is covered by the third-party liability at no extra premium from Basis-Plus, provided it is named in the application with its value. You can add it to the hull cover for a premium. A coupling lock noticeably reduces the risk of theft.

Frequent questions

Does the outboard have to be stated in the contract?

Yes, for Sunbird too: with manufacturer, power output and serial number.

Otherwise only the hull is covered in the event of theft or damage.

Is the trailer included?

For Sunbird: In Basis-Plus and Premium at no extra premium in the third-party liability,

provided you state the value of the trailer in the calculator.
