Ufo Boat s.r.l. is the Italian name behind a pair of sporty keelboats drawn in the studio of Umberto Felci. Before the Ufo, Felci had designed a long run of racing boats for the regattas on Lake Garda, a place with a taste for unusual ideas. The family look follows from that: a flat-bottomed hull, a narrow waterline and a deck that flares far out to each side. On the Ufo One-Design those deck wings form the hiking platforms, and they come off so the boat fits on a road trailer. The hull was laid up in PVC foam and biaxial cloth with epoxy, vacuum-bagged and then post-cured in an oven, with a removable box-steel keel carrying a lead bulb and a rudder hung outboard. The smaller UFO 22 is a 7/8 fractional sloop with a movable keel, and its fleet races on lakes and in the upper Adriatic.
