Worth knowing
Wegu; cover, cost and conditions
For a small sailing boat too, third-party liability remains the basis: the Wegu programme was created between 1967 and 1995 and ranged from the Wegu Jolle through the Rubin 23 to the Happy Sailing. Third-party liability covers damage to third parties with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros, selectable in the levels Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium.
A Happy Sailing and a Rubin 23 are already sailing in our own portfolio. Since production goes back to the mid-nineties, these boats change owner second-hand today; NAMMERT insures regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners, and for the premium value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range count.
If you move your dinghy on a trailer, the trailer is included in the boat insurance free of charge; cover also applies during launching and while in transport. Club races are included from the Basis-Plus tariff upwards, and races with scoring status you state when taking out cover.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Is third-party liability alone enough for my Wegu Jolle?
Third-party liability is the basis and covers damage to third parties with up to 50 million euros. Anyone who wants to protect their own boat adds limited or full hull cover, for example against storm, theft and damage in winter storage.
Is full hull cover still available for a Wegu from the seventies?
Yes, in the Premium tariff with no age limit. The value is arranged as an agreed value and replaced with no deduction for depreciation. A Rubin 23 and a Happy Sailing are already sailing in our portfolio.
The cover that fits
For the whole class of boat
What matters for your boat depends less on the brand than on engine output, how a claim is settled and the waters you sail.

For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
