Worth knowing
Vip; cover, cost and conditions
No model ranges are recorded for this brand; nevertheless a boat designated 1930 Vision is insured with us. For the contract the data of the boat itself are sufficient, because small series and boats without a documented programme are just as insurable as models from large series.
Engine power is one of the factors that determine the premium, alongside type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range. A change of propulsion therefore alters the rating and should be reported, so that the agreed value continues to match the actual condition of the boat.
The scope of cover remains unaffected by this: full hull cover for collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard, limited hull cover for fire, storm, lightning strike, theft of the whole boat and damage in winter storage. Third-party liability with 10 to 50 million euros carries both.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Do I have to report a more powerful engine?
Yes, for Vip too: Engine power enters into the rating,
and the value of the propulsion belongs in the schedule for the agreed value.
Only in this way is the new engine fully covered in the event of a claim.
What applies if no model data are available for the brand?
For Vip: That changes nothing in the contract.
Decisive are type of boat, value, year of construction,
engine power or sail area and cruising range, not how well known the brand or its programme is.
