Xtreme Sailing Products, known as XSP, is a boatbuilder based in Singapore; the Pte Ltd suffix is the local form of a private limited company. XSP builds sailing dinghies, mostly for established one-design classes in which every boat follows the same class rules. You recognise them by the XSP prefix in front of the class name. The range spans the Optimist, the usual first boat for children, two-person youth boats such as the Cadet and the 420, and boats for sailors with disabilities such as the Access dinghies and the Skud 18. The yard's output is therefore aimed above all at clubs, sailing schools and young racers.

Further classes include the Byte and Byte C2, Cadet, Club 420, Tasar, XSP 29 and 29 XX, the F18 Capricorn at 5.5 metres and the Skud 18 at 5.8 metres.

One-design dinghies live hard lives: launched from beaches and slipways, capsized in training and packed onto trailers week after week. On a used boat check the hull for soft spots around the centreboard case and the mast step, look at the gudgeons and pintles, and make sure the buoyancy compartments are still airtight. Class rules matter for anyone who wants to race, so a measurement certificate and a sail number that matches the boat are worth asking for. A dinghy that has spent its winters under a fitted tarpaulin on a launching trolley will usually be in better shape than one left out in the sun.
