Yachtwerft Martin sits in Radolfzell on the Untersee, the western arm of Lake Constance. Joseph Martin founded the yard in 1931. His son Josef took it over in 1974, aged 24, after his father's early death, when it was still a one-man workshop. Today he runs it with his wife Silke and his son Sven. The focus is wooden boatbuilding: new boats drawn by classic designers as well as modern ones, and restorations such as Hadumoth and the eight-metre Sposa II of 1929. The yard drew wide attention with Gustaf, a 75 square metre Skerry Cruiser built from plans dating to 1927 and the first officially measured new boat of the class in almost a century.
