Arcoa Yachting; cover, cost and conditions
Arcoa is a French boat brand. Guy Couach created the name in 1947 and built production boats under it; through the 1950s and 1960s these were wooden dinghies, runabouts and vedettes. At the end of the 1960s the Couach family separated from the brand, which passed to the Yachting France Arcoa-Jouët yards at La Teste, and building moved to composite. In the 1970s came fast cabin cruisers, among them the Mystic range with twin diesels. You recognise the boats by the long flat foredeck, the low screen and the cockpit set well aft.
Our model records list 94 Arcoa models: 30 motorboats, 18 motor yachts, 27 sailing boats and 19 sailing yachts. That is a wider spread than the name suggests and comes from the shared history with Yachting France. Build years run from 1957 to 2018. Sixty series are recorded: Le Canot 41 and Canot 42, the Mystic 39, 44 and 60, and the older numbered ranges from the 627 to the 1207. Lengths run from 4.1 to 17.9 metres, half the models between 5.6 and 9.8 metres.
Age is what defines this brand today. Production ended in 2018 and most recorded models date from the 1970s to the 1990s, which puts them in the window where survey condition tells more than the build year. The early boats were planked in wood and the later ones moulded in composite, so two Arcoas of similar length can need entirely different inspections: frames and planking on one, laminate and osmosis on the other.
