NorthSilver; cover, cost and conditions

NorthSilver is a St. Petersburg builder of welded aluminium motorboats. It started out selling boats from the Finnish aluminium brand Silver, then bought a production licence and began building its own. The NorthSilver PRO line followed: aluminium expedition boats, either open or with a closed cabin. Model names are easy to read. The number roughly gives the length in centimetres, and the suffix names the layout: Fish for an open fishing deck, Cabin or Star Cabin for a wheelhouse, SC for a side console and Tiller for outboard tiller steering.

We hold 24 NorthSilver models on record: 22 motorboats and two motor yachts, with build years from 2015 to 2027. The 470, 520, 525, 545, 585, 615 and 655 form the core, the 470 offered open, with console or with tiller. Seven models carry the Fish suffix and five are Cabin versions. The PRO family counts seven boats between the PRO 565 and the PRO 940. Twenty of the 24 are under seven metres, the smallest at 4.7 metres, while the 1270 and 1440 motor yachts reach 12.7 and 15.57 metres.

Most of these boats spend their lives on a road trailer, launched at a ramp for a day on a lake, a river or a sheltered coast. Aluminium shrugs off a rocky landing better than most materials, but it asks for care where it meets other metals: check anodes, keep stainless fittings isolated and rinse after saltwater trips. Over winter the smaller models sit on their trailers under a cover, the bigger ones ashore on a cradle.
