Worth knowing
Peerenboom; cover, cost and conditions
Peerenboom, usually spelt Peereboom in the Netherlands, traces back to N.V. Jachtbouw De Peereboom in Dussen, a village in North Brabant between the Maas and the Waal. The yard built cabin motor cruisers sold as Kruiser, plus smaller Weekend boats, and brokers also list larger steel Kruisers that are not in our data. The three digit number in each name roughly gives the length in centimetres, and the boats show the classic Dutch cruiser profile with a raised helm and a roomy aft deck.
Our model records hold seven Peerenboom designs, two motorboats and five motor yachts. Four belong to the Kruiser line: the 750 at 8.4 metres, the 770 at 8 metres, the 825 at 8.45 metres and the 900 at 9 metres. The Weekendkreuzer 825 adds 8.25 metres, and the two motorboats are the Weekend 660 at 6.6 metres and the Peerenboom 660 at 6.8 metres. The Weekend 660 is the oldest, built from 1965 to 1972, and the Kruiser 750 and Peerenboom 660 run until 1983.
These are canal and river boats at heart: a berth in a Dutch or German marina, gentle passages through locks and long summer evenings aboard. After four decades or more, the engine bed, the fuel tanks and the window seals are the places to check first, and a winter afloat in fresh water is kinder to them than many owners expect.
