Release Boats, LLC.; cover, cost and conditions

Release Boats is a family business in Opa-locka, Florida, that has built fibreglass fishing boats since 1977. Each hull is laid up by hand in a wood free composite build: a one piece fibreglass stringer grid supports the hull, and both hull and stringers are filled with foam. The range consists of centre console boats from about 18 to 30 feet, made for offshore fishing and shallow coastal water. A Release is easy to read: the number at the start of the name is roughly the length in feet, and tags such as RX, DC or Panga describe the layout and hull form.

Our records list seven models, all motorboats, all built from 2018 into the most recent years. Six are centre consoles: the 196 RX, 210 RX, 240R, 265 Panga, 295 Sport and 301 RX/RXS. The seventh is the 230 DC with a dual console. Lengths run from 6.15 metres (196 RX Center Console) to 9.18 metres (301 RX/RXS Center Console). Two models stay under seven metres, the 230 DC measures exactly seven, and four sit between 7.31 metres (240R) and 9.18 metres.

A Release lives the Florida fishing life: launched from a trailer at dawn, run across shallow flats and out to the reef, then washed down at the ramp. Salt gets into everything, so a thorough fresh water rinse of hull, livewell plumbing, rod holders and outboard after each trip pays off. The foam filled, wood free build keeps rot out of the picture, which leaves the engine, wiring and trailer as the main service items.
