Rib Italy, usually written Ribitaly, is an Italian manufacturer that first made its name with the BWA range of inflatable boats. At the end of 2016 it added a second line called BMA, and these boats have nothing inflatable about them: they are rigid hulls without tubes, intended for day trips, fishing, watersports and short family holidays afloat. A BMA is easy to recognise by its modern, stretched profile and a pronounced V below the waterline. The range splits into open boats and versions with a sundeck and a cabin.

Every one of them starts in 2018 and runs into the most recent build years, so the whole line is in current production. Length grows almost in step with the type number: 5.96 metres for the x199, 7.1 for the x222, 7.55 for the x233, 8.05 for the x266 and 8.1 for the x277. The family therefore sits between six and just over eight metres. The x277 is the cabin boat, with a saloon that converts into a double berth, an aft cabin and a separate heads. All BMA models are driven by outboards, and the x277 can take one engine or two.
Because these are recent boats, most used examples will still be close to their original specification. Outboards deserve the first look: service history, hours, the condition of the lower unit and any signs of corrosion around the bracket. A deep V hull rewards trim and weight distribution, so check the trim tabs and steering if fitted. Many owners move their boat between a marina berth, a slipway and a holiday area, which makes the road trailer, its brakes and bearings just as important as the boat. On cabin versions such as the x277, open the heads and look for damp in the lockers.
