Riverfox is based in Grudziądz on the Vistula in northern Poland, at Portowa 5, and sells its boats under the Fox-Boats and Riverfox names. The yard describes itself as a builder of boats made specially for anglers, and says the Polish national sport fishing team uses its boats. The range consists of small open motorboats in three families, Riverfox, Lakefox and Fox F, and for most of them the number in the name roughly gives the length in centimetres. The Bass versions announce their purpose in the name.
Our model records list twelve designs, all motorboats between 3.16 and 4.99 metres. The oldest is the Riverfox 500, from 2007. The Fox F 320, Fox F 420, Lakefox 320 and Riverfox 420 joined in 2012, the Riverfox 470 in 2015, the Riverfox 400 and C 470 in 2016, the Riverfox 400 Bass, C 400 Bass and 420 C in 2017, and the C 400 Bass Console in 2018. Every one of the twelve reaches into the most recent build years. Only the Fox F 320 and Lakefox 320 stay under four metres, three designs measure 4.68 metres, and the Riverfox 500 is the largest at 4.99 metres.
A small angling boat spends as much time on the road as on the water, so the trailer deserves the same care as the hull: bearings, lights and winch strap all wear. Launching at rough slipways and nudging into rocky banks leaves scrapes along the keel line, which are worth checking on any used boat. Fish finders, chart plotters and electric trolling motors add wiring and transducers through or onto the hull, and each fitting should be properly sealed. Rinsing the outboard with fresh water after use keeps the cooling passages clear. Most of these boats work on lakes and rivers, where they suit early starts and quiet water.
