Ruban Bleu builds electric boats in Vigneux-de-Bretagne, in the Loire-Atlantique department of western France. Founded in 1992, the company set out early as a pioneer of electric travel on water, with licence-free boats for holidaymakers and for hire fleet operators, above all on rivers. Thibault de Veyrinas took over the yard in 2006 and handed the helm to his son Côme in 2025. Besides small boats, Ruban Bleu builds navettes, electric ferry boats for up to 30 passengers that link two banks or run sightseeing circuits. The electric motors are made in house.

Our model records list twelve designs: eleven motorboats and the Navette, which is classed as a power catamaran and at 8.5 metres is the largest boat. The Ace, Navette, Scoop and Zelec appear from 2004, the Most from 2005, the Scoop + and Sensas from 2012, the Legend, the Bruce 22 and the smallest design at 2.75 metres from 2013, and the Scoop 2 from 2019. A Laguna 760 of 7.6 metres is also listed under the brand for 2007 to 2014. Seven designs reach the most recent build years: Ace, Legend, Most, Navette, Scoop +, Scoop 2 and Sensas. Nine of the twelve stay under six metres.

An electric boat asks for different checks than a petrol one. Battery age and charging history matter most on a used Ruban Bleu, since a tired battery bank shortens every outing. Connectors, cables and the charger should be dry and free of corrosion, and over winter the boat should be laid up with the batteries kept topped up. Hulls that have served in hire fleets may show scuffs from many hands at the helm, which is cosmetic as long as the laminate is sound. On calm rivers and canals these quiet boats suit picnics, slow cruising and short trips from a riverside base.
