Scherpel Jachtwerf BV is based in Oud Loosdrecht, on the Loosdrecht lakes in the Dutch province of Utrecht. Hans Resoort and Patricia Scherpel run the business and carry on the love of boats and water they picked up from their parents. Alongside the workshop the site has a shed for winter storage and maintenance, a boatbuilding school and a marina set in a nature area. The yard's speciality is the motor vlet and the motor sloep, joined by an officers' launch and a dinghy of its own. Craftsmanship, in the yard's own words, comes first. Older wooden Scherpel vlets with their tall, upswept stern still change hands from time to time.
