The Sealander is made in Kiel. Sealander GmbH builds a camping trailer that doubles as a boat, designed by Daniel Straub. On the road it is an unbraked trailer weighing 485 kilograms empty with a permitted maximum of 750 kilograms, so an ordinary car licence is enough to tow it. At the water's edge you reverse it in, lower the outboard and motor away. The shape gives it away at once: a rounded egg of a shell, made as a seamless glassfibre monocoque finished in gelcoat. Inside and on top there is a roof that opens over two thirds of its length, a ladder at the bow, a table with two benches that turn into a bed, a removable single-burner gas stove and a galvanised chassis with sealed wheel hubs.
