Triplast is a Slovenian yard building sailing yachts, and according to the source it has been in business since 1983. The range is the Y series, which besides the designs in our records also includes a Y-33. The Y 999 is a sloop in glassfibre-reinforced polyester, just under ten metres long and about 3.5 metres in the beam, with two or three cabins and an inboard diesel. Listings place it in Slovenia and Croatia, and on the Slovenian coast, at Izola for example, it is also offered for charter. The naming is simple and consistent throughout: a Y followed by a number.

Boats sailed in the Adriatic face long summers, strong sun and the occasional bora, and that sets the pattern of wear. UV takes its toll on sails, canvas, sprayhoods and deck sealant, so check stitching, window seals and the state of the non-slip surfaces. If the boat has been in charter, look at the engine hours, the heads and the wear on winches and clutches; charter use means many skippers and frequent harbour manoeuvres. The bora can load an anchored boat hard, so windlass, chain and bow fittings deserve attention. As with any glassfibre yacht, a moisture check below the waterline and a look at the joint between keel and hull belong in a sensible survey.
