Whittley builds trailerable fibreglass boats in Australia. The house has been in family hands since 1953 and is now run by the third generation. In the late 1960s came the Voyager, a family cruiser to sleep aboard, and the Puma, a high sided runabout; further ranges followed in the 1970s and 1980s. The present Clearwater family goes back to an Australian design of 1991. You recognise the boats by the high freeboard carried well forward, the upright screen and the small enclosed cabin under the foredeck.

A trailerable boat is designed around a constraint that has nothing to do with the sea: it has to fit behind a car and come off the trailer without a crane.
