XO Boats; cover, cost and conditions
XO builds aluminium boats with an enclosed cabin between 7 and 10 metres in Finland, designed uncompromisingly for rough seas and year-round operation, with an armoured hull and seats on shock absorbers. They are work boats in leisure clothing. Two things matter for insurance: the high engine power, which determines the third-party liability premium via the kW scale, and the exceptionally high replacement sum of these boats.
Aluminium cabin boats of this class are frequently run commercially or in shared use, charter, guiding, water taxi. Commercial use is not automatically included: charter and skippered charter carry surcharges of their own, and without the type of use being stated there is no cover in the event of a loss during commercial operation. State the use in the calculator, where it appears as a field of its own.

As the XO 270 RS / Cabin, XO 360 / 370,
XO EXPLR 10 by XO Boats and 4 more series are still in production,
parts are available and repair costs are predictable.
Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
For the XO 250 Front Cabin by XO Boats series the market value and the replacement cost often
differ widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the XO 270 RS / Cabin, XO 250 Front Cabin, XO 240 by XO Boats and further series:
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part.
Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For the XO 360 / 370, XO EXPLR 10, XO DFNDR 8 by XO Boats series:
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.
Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
