Doering appears in our records as a builder of small sailing boats, with a single motorboat in the range. Nearly everything is a sailing boat under five metres, the kind that is moved on a road trailer or a launching trolley. The names stand out: besides the Aquarius series there are the Butt and Goldbutt, the Kogge, Clipper, Corvette, Orkan, Moräne, Fähre, Ratzeburg and Küchensee. On the Aquarius the number is the length in centimetres, so the 190 is 1.9 metres long and the 285 exactly 2.85. The only motorboat is the four metre Küchensee.

Boats this small spend much of their life on land. A trailer with sound bearings and working lights, padded supports for the hull and a snug tarpaulin make the off season easy, and a rinse after use keeps the fittings free. Small sailing boats are rigged and unrigged often, so shackles, halyards and the mast foot deserve a regular check. On a lake or other sheltered water they come into their own for short outings, and their size makes it easy to try a new launch spot.
