Imperial Boat Company; cover, cost and conditions
Imperial Boat Company is an American boatbuilder, listed in the US Coast Guard manufacturer register with an address in Barberton, Ohio. It built fibreglass sports boats with inboard engines and sterndrives, classic runabouts and bowriders for lakes and rivers. The V series is the easiest way to spot one: Imperial V 170, V 180 and V 190, later the V-173. The number is roughly the length in feet times ten, so a V 170 is just over 17 feet and a V 190 about 20. The later 204 XL, 210 and 2400 follow a pattern of their own.
Our model records hold seven Imperial designs, six motorboats and one motor yacht, the Imperial 2400. Build years run from 1977 to 2001. The V 170, V 180 and V 190 start in 1977; the 180 and 190 end in 1984, while the V 170 runs to 1993. The 2400 follows from 1985 to 1992, the V-173 from 1986 to 1992, the 210 from 1990 to 1996 and the 204 XL from 1995 to 2001. Lengths go from the 5.2 metre V-173 to the 8 metre Imperial 2400.
These are boats for a day on the lake, launched from a ramp and stored in a garage or yard. The sterndrive bellows, the transom and the trailer bearings are the usual points to check on an older Imperial, and a flush with fresh water after every outing keeps the cooling system healthy.

That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it,
and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
For the Imperial 204 XL, Imperial 210, Imperial V 170 by Imperial Boat Company and further series:
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part.
Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For the Imperial 2400 by Imperial Boat Company series:
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.
Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
