Kalik is a Belgian sailing yacht brand built by the Lewin yard, which some databases list as Lewin/FF Boats. Its best known model, the Kalik 33, was drawn by the designer Jacques De Ridder and has a GRP hull. The number in the name roughly gives the length in feet for the models from 30 to 44, so the Kalik 30 measures 9.15 metres and the Kalik 44 13.41 metres, while the Kalik 103 follows another pattern and stands for about 10.3 metres. Our records also file the Pion and the Turtle 30 under this name; the Pion appears with other yards as well, so it was not built here alone.

We list eight models, all sailing yachts. Six carry the Kalik name: the Kalik 30 from 1970 to 1985, the 33 from 1974 to 1993, the 40 and 44 from 1977 to 1987, the 42 from 1976 to 1985 and the 103 from 1986 to 1992. The Pion runs from 1974 to 1981 and the Turtle 30 from 1976 to 1983. Lengths run from 9.05 metres (Pion) to 13.41 metres (Kalik 44), and the Kalik 33 stayed in the range the longest, close to two decades.

A Kalik today is a classic GRP cruiser, often more than forty years old. Chainplates, keel bolts and the original wiring deserve a close look, and many boats have new sails and engines by now. They suit coastal cruising in the North Sea and the Channel as well as Dutch and Belgian inland lakes, and spend the winter ashore on a cradle.
