Kormos SA; cover, cost and conditions
Kormos SA is a Greek company with its yard and offices in Markopoulo, Attica, south east of Athens. Set up in 1987 as an industrial construction firm, it leased the Dromor Yachts boatyard in 1996 and took on its skilled staff. Since then it has built and repaired inflatables, sailing yachts and motor yachts in GRP, and boat trailers too. Hence the Dromor name: on the inflatables it comes with the length in centimetres, so a Dromor 380 is 3.8 metres. The sailing yachts carry names from ancient myth such as Apollo, Athena, Triton or Venus, the motorboats are called Sweety.
Our model records list 27 models: 14 inflatables, ten sailing yachts and three motor yachts. Build years run from 1985 to 2005, and none is still in production. Lengths range from 2.4 to 15.4 metres, with half of them between 4 and 11.1 metres. The Dromor inflatables run from the 240 at 2.4 metres to the 600 R at 6.1. Among the sailing yachts, the Dromor 26 sits around eight metres, the Apollo 12 at 12.1, the Athena 44 at 13, the Triton 48 and Atlantic 49 around 14 and the Venus 16 at 15.4 metres. The Sweety 85, Sweety 105 and Dromor 115 are motor yachts of 7.9 to 11.5 metres.
Some of the sailing yachts still work in charter, and most now change hands on the used market. For an older Apollo or Athena, value depends on the GRP hull and its osmosis history, the age of rig and sails, the engine and how the interior has stood up to use. Inflatables are judged on their tubes.

For the Apollo 12, Apollo 12/41,
Athena 44 by Kormos SA and 18 more series the market value and the replacement cost often differ
widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the Atlantic 49, Dromor 430,
Dromor 465 by Kormos SA and 3 more series there is no list price left.
That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it,
and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
For the Apollo 12, Apollo 12/41, Athena 44 by Kormos SA and further series:
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts:
a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat,
and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
For the Dromor 115, Sweety 85, Sweety 105 by Kormos SA series:
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.
Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
For the Dromor 240, Dromor 260, Dromor 280 by Kormos SA and further series:
Even without an engine the rule holds: a tear from impact or vandalism is covered,
UV ageing is wear.
