LDC Racing Sailboats; cover, cost and conditions
LDC Racing Sailboats is where RS dinghies began. LDC stood for London Dinghy Centre, a dinghy shop in south east London, and it was there that the idea of an own brand took shape. In 1994 Martin Wadhams and Nick Peters launched the RS400 and RS600 together at the London Boat Show, and the same year the business moved to the south coast, to Chandlers Ford in Hampshire. With the Feva for young sailors, RS Racing became RS Sailing in 2003, and in 2011 the operation moved to Romsey. The boats are known by the letters RS with a number or name on the sail, and by light, modern hulls with gennaker or spinnaker.
Our model records list 36 designs: 32 sailing dinghies and four beach catamarans of the RS Cat line. The earliest build year is 1991, and 27 lines reach into the latest build years. The range runs from the RS Tera at 2.9 metres, a dinghy for children, via the Feva, Zest, Quba and Neo to the racing dinghies RS 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800 and RS 2000. The RS Aero comes with three rig sizes, 5, 7 and 9. The Vision, Quest, Venture and K6 serve families and sailing schools, the keelboat RS Elite measures 7.4 metres and the RS 21 6.4 metres. The 49er and the B14 also appear under the brand.
RS boats are sailed hard and handled often: onto the trolley, up the slipway, onto the road trailer and back. Capsizes are part of the game, so the masthead float, the hull bungs and the self bailers are worth a check before every race day. Light hulls dislike point loads, which is why a well padded trolley and supports matter. A full set of racing sails ages faster than the hull, and many crews keep a training set to spare the good ones.

value and the replacement cost often differ widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the RS 21, RS 100, RS 200 by LDC Racing Sailboats and further series:
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides.
A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
For the RS Cat 14, RS Cat 16 Club, RS Cat 16 S by LDC Racing Sailboats and further series:
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part,
and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
