Worth knowing
MABI Yachts AB; cover, cost and conditions
Two sailing yachts are on file, the M 46 with years of construction from 2005 and the M 40 from 2008, both built up to the present day. Further details of the programme are missing. With sailing yachts the sail area takes the place of engine power for the premium, together with value, year of construction and cruising range.
Anyone taking part in club races with the M 40 or the M 46 is covered from Basis-Plus onwards. Report races with ranking status when taking out the policy so that the contract expressly covers them. Underneath, at every level, lies third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros.
Sails, rig and electronics belong in the schedule for the sum insured so that they are contained in the agreed value. In the event of a claim, indemnity is paid with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old"), in the Premium tariff with no age limit. Cover also applies in winter storage, during craning and during launching.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Are club races included?
Club races are part of the cover from Basis-Plus onwards. For races with ranking status a declaration when taking out the policy is necessary so that they are taken into account in the contract.
Do sails and rig count towards the sum insured?
They belong in the schedule on which the agreed value is based. What is stated there is covered in the event of a claim and is replaced with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old").

Series by MABI Yachts AB, build years and cover
M 40 is a sailing yacht from MABI Yachts AB, built since 2008.
M 46 is a sailing yacht from MABI Yachts AB, built since 2005.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
