Worth knowing
mantra Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
Mantra, sold as mantra Yachts, stands for light glassfibre sailing boats aimed at newcomers and at racing sailors. The brand was founded by Dariusz Konopczak. It never ran its own production line: the boats were built under contract by the Polish yard Yacht Service. The first design was the SiX, a one-design racing keelboat with a small cuddy forward and a big cockpit that seats five. The SiX CR followed, then the SiXfor4 with a roomier hull and a four-berth cabin. Deck gear came from Harken and sails from Polsails.
Our model records hold seven Mantra designs: three sailing yachts, three sailing boats and one power catamaran. The SiX and SiX CR measure 5.98 metres each and the SiXfor4 6.58 metres; all three run into the latest build years, starting in 2009, 2012 and 2010 respectively. The Mantra 23 and the Mantra 7000 are both 7 metres long, recorded from 2012 to 2022 and from 2011 to 2017. The oldest design is the 9.45 metre Mantra 31, listed from 1999 to 2013. The odd one out is the Palm Cat, a 10.7 metre power catamaran with a cabin, built from 2012 to 2019.
The SiX family is made for towing to regattas and new waters, so a good trailer and a routine for rigging on the slipway matter as much as a marina berth. Light hulls like these reward dry storage between events and careful handling of the racing sails. The Palm Cat is a different animal: a berth boat with two hulls, wide on the pontoon and happiest on sheltered coastal and inland water.

As the Mantra SiX, Mantra SiX CR and Mantra SiXfor4 by mantra Yachts series are still in
production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable.
Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
For the Mantra 23, Mantra Palm Cat,
Mantra 7000 by mantra Yachts and 1 more series the market value and the replacement cost often
differ widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the Mantra SiX, Mantra SiX CR, Mantra 7000 by mantra Yachts series:
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides.
A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
For the Mantra SiXfor4, Mantra 23, Mantra 31 by mantra Yachts series:
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts:
a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat,
and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
For the Mantra Palm Cat by mantra Yachts series:
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part,
and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
